Agents got write access on four unrelated products; only Tability shipped the audit trail

The lead

Yesterday agent access arrived with its permission model attached. Today the access got sharper and the permission model mostly did not follow. ShipHero flipped its MCP connector from read-only to read-write, so an outside agent can change warehouse inventory rather than report on it. Salesmsg's calling agents began writing post-call notes and intent tags into the contact record themselves. GitHub Copilot extended code review to pull requests opened by bots, including its own cloud agent, making the review surface a dependency of the agent surface rather than a feature beside it.

The gap sits inside the same releases. ShipHero's announcement concedes agent-side confirmation cannot be guaranteed and leaves an audit trail for agent-initiated writes unaddressed. ShipHero, Salesmsg and Tability each moved agents from reading a system of record to editing it, and 3CX now exposes a phone system an agent can operate, not only summarise. On WordPress, Gravity Forms added an MCP server and RankMath put an agent inside the plugin as well as exposing tools to those outside.
  • Cursor and Warp moved the loop off the desktop. Cursor shipped prompt-to-live-URL with no GitHub connection required, leaving deployment as its last outsourced handoff. Warp is publishing its roadmap in the open and shipping the runtime beneath it.
  • The access layer keeps consolidating. Tailscale put a privileged-access beta out a day after its AI gateway hit GA, Infisical is pulling secrets, PKI, PAM and KMS behind one gateway, and HashiCorp is selling provenance as the moat, with Packer shipping it first.
  • Scope moved both ways. Thread took the service-level clock off the PSA it sits on, and Sanity collapsed four release lines onto one SDK. Pulling the other way, Misskey deleted its bundled machine-learning stack and made moderation an external service operators run.
  • Inference became a line item. Capacities moved AI from bundled feature to metered budget, pricing the knowledge base and the inference apart. OpenRouter used its own traffic data to write up a rival's price cut.

Watch whether the audit trail follows the write access, and how fast. ShipHero and Cursor left the same gap on the same day, and Tability is the only product here that has walked the full sequence — inspect an object type, make it writable a release later, then attribute the change to the agent that made it. If that ordering is general rather than Tability's habit, confirmation and logging should surface at ShipHero and Salesmsg within a couple of releases. Narrower: LiveAgent's new transcription has no consumer other than its own AI layer, so expect summaries and answer suggestion to start eating transcripts. One caveat on today's reading — Jobvite, Crelate, Everhour, Process Street and Copperleaf published marketing content rather than release notes, so their silence here is a crawl artifact, not a quiet week.
