The lead

For a year the agent-access question was whether a product would open an endpoint at all. Today's releases assume the endpoint and move to a harder problem: the machine reading it gets things wrong. Appfigures shipped a CLI built for AI agents with a hinting system whose stated job is stopping them from misreading the data.   • Audits turned inward, one of them run by an AI. modauthopenidc had the worst ten days on the board: 2.4.20 rebuilt session encryption and invalidated every existing session, 2.4.20.1 disclosed eight issues from an internal audit — the most serious letting a client inject headers a protected backend trusts as authenticated identity claims — and 2.4.20.2 walked back part of the fallout the next morning. Libreswan 5.3.2 discloses that an AI-assisted audit of its own codebase surfaced the assertion failure it fixes. Open Babel returned from six years dormant carrying an OSS-Fuzz campaign.
  • Elsewhere, capability rather than governance. Betaflight's 2026.6 line grew a genuine autopilot — flight plans, CLI waypoint commands, geofence return-to-home, MAVLink mission transfer, a DroneCAN stack — while QGroundControl broke ten months of silence with a 5.1 candidate. SUNDIALS shipped its first Python interface, and SciPy finished translating itself out of Fortran.

The lead's premise is testable: hints and annotations are only worth shipping if agents honour them, and Workato's read-versus-write annotation is the first with a clear failure mode — watch whether anything downstream reports acting on it. modauthopenidc is mid-fallout; an eight-finding audit rarely stops at one patch. Two feeds are worth distrusting rather than reading: Metricool published ten posts with no product news, and Sugar Calendar has replaced version posts with truncated tutorials, so capability news arrives disguised.
