◆Current state
The centre of gravity has moved to AEO — answer-engine optimization. Webflow now runs your prompts through Perplexity alongside ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude for visibility and citation comparison, and has shipped agents that recommend content, write briefs, and draft copy aimed at getting cited. Running underneath is steady builder-surface work: bulk select-option creation, attribute strings that split on paste, a dockable AI assistant, and per-language tone and formality control for translations.
◆Where it's heading
The AEO line is being built as a full loop rather than a dashboard — measure citation share across four models, then generate the content intended to move it. That closes the gap between analytics and authoring inside one tool, which is a different proposition from an SEO plugin. The visual-builder releases in the same window are small and ergonomic by comparison, suggesting the canvas is in maintenance while the AI surface absorbs the new capability.
◆Prediction
Model coverage has expanded once already in this window, so adding further answer engines to AEO analytics is the cheapest next step. The more telling question is whether the AEO agents stay advisory or start publishing directly to the site — the drafting capability is already there, and only the hand-off is missing.
