Agents become clients of the product, and vendors rush to add budgets and oversight

Generated 28m agoDrawn from 40 products

The lead

The same move showed up across a dozen unrelated products today: the agent is becoming a client of the product, not just a feature inside it. Currents shipped a hosted MCP server with browser OAuth, so a coding agent can fetch CI failures with no API key. Basedash now lets any MCP client write real dashboards, and Sanity is updating its MCP server several times a week. Live Helper Chat added an MCP endpoint so Claude or ChatGPT can inspect an installation.

The counterweight is control. Once agents act on live systems, vendors are shipping budgets, audit trails and usage views in the same breath. This was not a quiet day: 61 products had fresh commentary, and governance and cost showed up in most of the strong ones.

What moved

  • Models arrive within days, and routing absorbs the choice. GitHub Copilot added Claude Sonnet 5.5 and GPT-6.1 Sol back to back, and GitHub says HydraFusion moved from the CLI into VS Code and the Copilot app. Zed 1.22 lets each subagent pick its own model, and Gumloop added a model router plus per-trigger model choice.
  • Agents get supervision. Hex added classifications of what its agent is asked to do. LiveAgent gave AI operators per-button budgets and an escalation watchdog for unresponsive bots, and Teamtailor shipped Smart action with prompt verification and bias warnings in the same release.
  • Credits become a pricing lever. Teable replaced 200 free monthly credits with a one-time 200-credit award, and Statusbrew is billing AI credits as a line item. Stigg added a natural-language contracts skill on top of sub-10ms entitlement checks.
  • AI starts testing, not just building. WeWeb now runs automated app tests, and Keboola took its Kai assistant to general availability.
  • Security patches kept coming. Horilla closed more than a dozen advisories between 2.1.1 and 2.1.8, ending with an unauthenticated remote code execution in its public recruitment flow.

Sectors today

  • Devtools: model choice and MCP access dominate, from Ably lowering AI Transport's entry cost to Knock adding per-step analytics.
  • Analytics: agents are becoming the main way in, at Hex and Basedash, while OpenObserve settles into 1.0 stabilization.
  • Collaboration: Asana tightened automation permissions and Hive is making the action card the place work gets reviewed.
  • Development: Zed and Sanity both treat agents as first-class users.
  • HR and recruiting: Teamtailor and Ashby are adding AI steps, while Ever Gauzy ships pagination fixes.
  • Project management: Tracecat is adding enterprise identity and sandbox limits around its agents, and NocoBase is wiring AI employees into data and citations.
  • Marketing automation: Gumloop and n8n are hardening agent plumbing.
  • Finance: Stigg is moving toward AI-operated contracts, and Shift4 pushed Venue Q3-R3 to global.
  • Customer support: LiveAgent and Live Helper Chat both added MCP tooling.
  • LMS and edtech: Latitude Learning paused its AI run for a small goals-filter release, and TAO Testing is in maintenance mode.
  • AI assistants: GitHub Copilot shares context across agents through Copilot Memory, and Ollama opened v0.35 with a new scoring API.
  • CRM: Twenty is cleaning up schemas behind its AI chat move, and IntegCRM keeps building invoicing and bookings.
  • Marketing: Metricool is betting on DM automation through Flows.
  • Video conferencing: Fourwaves is centering direct messages in event networking, and HOMER opened SIP search to AI agents over MCP.
  • Design: Spectra makes AI-imported pages render as previewed, and Octopus.do added an activity feed and email digests.
  • Communication and messaging: Proton Bridge stays in maintenance mode.

Watch tomorrow

Two dated changes are already in the data: Keboola's faster-waking apps become the default on October 15, and SigNoz ends v1 alert history APIs the same day. Horilla's advisory cadence, six security releases in three weeks, suggests more patches rather than a pause. Ollama is on a fast release-candidate cadence into v0.35. Treat several feeds as crawl-source noise rather than product news: Service Fusion, eduMe, Antavo and Netcore Cloud published marketing content only, and Firefly III and Logto expose builds with no release notes.
