OpenObserve's 1.1 line settles into patch releases: 1.1.2 backports PromQL and five other fixes.

◆Current state
OpenObserve promoted 1.1.0 to stable after three release candidates and has shipped two patches since. 1.1.1 stopped tantivy index builds from fsyncing scratch files and made the metrics index and WAL pack always-on; 1.1.2 fixes constant hash ordering in PromQL streaming scans and ports five more fixes onto the 1.1 branch. The cycle overall was plumbing: memory-bounded caches, faster PromQL quantiles, a new MIDX encoding and a flag-gated Product Analytics.
◆Where it's heading
After 1.0 GA bundled AI observability, SLOs and database monitoring, the team is hardening storage, indexing and query internals rather than widening the surface. A maintained 1.1 branch receiving backports means stable lines are now supported while main moves on. Product Analytics is shipping dark behind a flag.
◆Prediction
Expect further 1.1.x patches on PromQL and indexing, with Product Analytics the candidate headline once enabled by default; the entries don't say when.

    OpenObserve 1.1.0 goes stable after three release candidates

    1.1.0 closes out a release cycle focused on caches, index encoding and PromQL internals. The published notes also list a phase-one multi-stream Tantivy index, per-stream flatten levels and removal of the syslog input, so self-hosters relying on syslog ingestion should check before upgrading.

    The final release candidate is a set of backported fixes. The one visible change is that Product Analytics is now hidden unless explicitly enabled, which keeps an unfinished module out of the 1.1 default build.

    v1.1.0-rc2: MIDX sample encoding and E2E test cleanup

    The second 1.1 release candidate is mostly test deflaking and generated E2E coverage, plus a typed sample-block encoding for the MIDX index and a PromQL refactor. It continues the release's storage and metrics plumbing without adding anything users will see.

    v1.1.0-rc1: memory-bounded caches and faster PromQL quantiles

    The first 1.1 release candidate bounds the metrics cache index by a memory budget, caps result-cache entries per key, and speeds up histogram_quantile. It is operational hardening for bigger clusters, not new surface area.
