Xurrent
Xurrent's October update widens from agent governance into problem management.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Libredesk and Twilio — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Libredesk's v2.9 release candidates add WhatsApp, email aliases and cited AI replies.
Libredesk, an open-source helpdesk, is shipping v2.9.0 as a run of release candidates, while the Docker latest tag stays on v2.8.0. rc.8 added a WhatsApp inbox, proactive live-chat messages, a help center inside the widget, AI tools in copilot that need agent approval, and an installable app. rc.9 adds email aliases, help-center citations on AI replies, and tighter session and visibility controls.
Twilio is giving EU customers a fuller in-region stack, routing and workflows included.
Twilio's recent releases split between context and compliance. Segment profiles now sync into Conversation Memory at GA, batch transcription configs are GA, and a server-side Video Media SDK lets back-end apps process room audio and video. On the compliance side, short codes, TaskRouter and Studio have all landed in the Ireland (IE1) region within a week, and paid support customers gained live chat across Twilio and Segment.

The product is spreading beyond email into WhatsApp and in-widget self-service. Its AI features are being built to stay checkable: copilot tools need agent approval and replies link to their sources. Each RC also closes access gaps, such as sessions surviving password changes and agents seeing conversations they shouldn't.
The next likely step is a stable v2.9.0 that moves the latest tag off v2.8.0. The two visible RCs don't show when that will happen.

Identity, media and orchestration are converging on one conversation context store that AI and human agents query, mostly through configuration rather than code. In parallel, IE1 is filling out product by product, moving from messaging senders into contact-center routing and workflow automation, so an EU deployment can keep more of the stack in-region.
More contact-center components are likely to follow TaskRouter and Studio into IE1, and the region features now in Public Beta should move toward GA. Which Conversation Memory sources come next is not yet visible in the entries.
