Front stops treating AI as a feature and starts managing agents as staff
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Frill and Gorgias — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Frill is turning its feedback board from a destination into something machines read on demand.
The MCP server is the centrepiece: ten tools, one API key, no configuration, callable from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Intercom Fin, and included on every plan rather than gated. The Chrome extension follows the same instinct from the capture side, collapsing a long help desk thread into a clean idea with an AI summary. September's addition is plainer: ideas can now have assignees, and boards filter by them.
Gorgias's feed goes quiet on product, and a public AI agent benchmark is the only news.
Gorgias's feed is now its blog, and the last entries all landed in one batch on October 5, which suggests a republish rather than fresh releases. Most are guides on support roles, BFCM preparation and the Shopify integration. The substantive item is a methodology post for an ecommerce AI agent benchmark that tested 12 agents on 200+ live stores and 8,000+ conversations. The latest product entry is June's AI Agent Actions piece.

Frill is systematically removing the requirement to be in Frill. Capture moves to wherever the conversation already happens; retrieval moves to whatever assistant the team already uses. That reframes the product as the feedback store rather than the feedback interface, and the pricing decision reinforces it — putting MCP on every plan optimises for the corpus being queried, not for upsell. The earlier enterprise work (EU hosting, EntraID SSO, CSP) is what makes that store trustworthy enough to hold the data.
Expect write paths to follow the read paths — an assistant that can already ask what users want will next be expected to file, merge and status ideas — and expect more capture surfaces beyond the browser extension.

The position has not changed: an AI-centered helpdesk for ecommerce, with original data as a credibility play. The public benchmark extends the Ecom Lab idea from reporting on merchants to grading the agents themselves, while comparison content keeps pointing at Intercom, Zendesk, Kustomer and Gladly.
Expect BFCM-themed support content through November and further use of the benchmark in competitive pages. Product releases are not visible in this feed, so it cannot show the pace of shipping.
