Front stops treating AI as a feature and starts managing agents as staff
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Frill and ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus Cloud — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Frill is turning its feedback board from a destination into something machines read on demand.
The MCP server is the centrepiece: ten tools, one API key, no configuration, callable from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Intercom Fin, and included on every plan rather than gated. The Chrome extension follows the same instinct from the capture side, collapsing a long help desk thread into a clean idea with an AI summary. September's addition is plainer: ideas can now have assignees, and boards filter by them.
ManageEngine SDP Cloud takes its Zoho-hosted Zia model to Saudi Arabia.
ServiceDesk Plus Cloud remains in steady maintenance. The main addition in this window is Zia, running on a Zoho-hosted LLM, becoming available in the Saudi Arabia data center. September brought behavior changes rather than features: welcome emails separated from SAML configuration, purchase orders approvable only by configured approvers, and technician unavailability details moved from hover to click. Two entries carry only a pre-release date.

Frill is systematically removing the requirement to be in Frill. Capture moves to wherever the conversation already happens; retrieval moves to whatever assistant the team already uses. That reframes the product as the feedback store rather than the feedback interface, and the pricing decision reinforces it — putting MCP on every plan optimises for the corpus being queried, not for upsell. The earlier enterprise work (EU hosting, EntraID SSO, CSP) is what makes that store trustworthy enough to hold the data.
Expect write paths to follow the read paths — an assistant that can already ask what users want will next be expected to file, merge and status ideas — and expect more capture surfaces beyond the browser extension.

The Zia rollout by region continues to be the one sustained investment, and naming a Zoho-hosted model makes clear the assistant runs on the vendor's own infrastructure. Everything else tightens existing workflows and fixes localization and portal bugs. Approval control and identity settings are getting more explicit.
Expect Zia to reach further data centers, alongside continued small behavior changes. No architectural shift is visible in these entries.
