Hex turns its agent from a query helper into a governed app builder.
Hex now ships weekly around two surfaces: the Hex Agent and Generative Apps. The agent builds projects from chat, runs under published eval suites, and works through Slack, CLI and API; Generative Apps have gained chat, scheduled exports, direct text editing and targeted chart edits. The latest release adds classifications of agent activity, giving admins a view of what the team actually asks the agent to do.
OpenPanel's tracked releases are maintenance: a saved-report fix and a CI Node bump.
The three tracked OpenPanel releases carry no new analytics features. The most recent fixes saved reports so they keep their filter type and cohort ids when reloaded. The other two tags publish the same commit, which moves CI to Node 22.20.0 to match the runtime Docker images after undici 8 broke two test suites on Node 20.

The work has shifted from adding agent capability to making that capability manageable: evals, approval skipping, bring-your-own-provider, model visibility, and now usage classification. Generative Apps are being rounded out in parallel so that agent-built output can be edited, shared and scheduled like a regular Hex app.
Expect the activity classifications to feed further admin tooling, such as usage reporting tied to credits or evals, alongside continued weekly iteration on Generative App editing.

The visible work is about keeping the self-hosted build and the hosted product in step: CI now runs the same Node version as the shipped images, and saved-report state is being made reliable. Three entries are too thin a record to show where the feature roadmap is going.
The entries don't show a feature direction, so the next move is unclear; more self-hosting and report-persistence fixes are the only pattern visible so far.
