A side-by-side editorial comparison of OpenHouse and OpenPanel — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
OpenHouse makes its commit-driven optimizer production-ready: indexes, bin-packing, metrics.
OpenHouse is LinkedIn's open-source control plane for Iceberg tables, and it tags a release per merged PR, often several a day. The October 6 work made the optimizer analyze a table as soon as its stats are committed and run stats collection as batched Spark jobs. October 7 hardened that path with secondary indexes, a bin-packing strategy and a clean CronJob exit; v0.5.517 aligned its MySQL connection with the tables service, and v0.5.518 gives it the same latency histograms the other services expose.
OpenPanel's tracked releases are maintenance: a saved-report fix and a CI Node bump.
The three tracked OpenPanel releases carry no new analytics features. The most recent fixes saved reports so they keep their filter type and cohort ids when reloaded. The other two tags publish the same commit, which moves CI to Node 22.20.0 to match the runtime Docker images after undici 8 broke two test suites on Node 20.

Table maintenance is moving from periodic full-fleet sweeps to an event-driven pipeline (commit, analyze, bin-pack, execute), with the full-scan cron kept as a backstop. The optimizer is now being brought to operational parity with the established services, in configuration and in observability. Stats collection ships enabled while orphan-file deletion stays toggled off, so operations are being rolled out one at a time.
Expect orphan-files deletion to be turned on through the same commit-driven analyzer path, and the first implementation PRs stacked on the metadata-simplification design to land soon.

The visible work is about keeping the self-hosted build and the hosted product in step: CI now runs the same Node version as the shipped images, and saved-report state is being made reliable. Three entries are too thin a record to show where the feature roadmap is going.
The entries don't show a feature direction, so the next move is unclear; more self-hosting and report-persistence fixes are the only pattern visible so far.
