Element X is the Matrix client, releasing on a near-weekly cadence with version-only tags and generated notes split into Features, Improvements, Bugfixes, Build and dependency sections. The recent line has delivered calling and location work — active calls rendering inline in the timeline, an in-call participant list, live location alerts — plus user status, sign-in accepting a full Matrix ID, and now multi-answer polls. Between those sit patch releases that are entirely fixes.

The client is filling in the interaction primitives a mainstream messenger is expected to have, rather than chasing protocol features: calls visible where the conversation is, locations shared live, statuses, and now polls that allow more than one answer. Performance work runs quietly alongside — read receipts tracked only on message-like events, message bodies no longer rescanned for emoji on every recomposition — which is the sort of thing that decides whether the client feels fast on ordinary hardware.

Polls arriving with multiple answers rather than as a basic version suggests the feature was held until it was complete, so expect the next releases to return to calling, which is where the last three feature releases concentrated.
