QuickBooks and Stigg show finance's agent pattern: propose, gate, then act.
The week in finance
The dominant pattern is agents that propose and finance systems that gate them. Intuit Intelligence lets QuickBooks scan a chart of accounts and carry out fixes after approval, Stigg released an Agent Governance SDK built on entitlements and credits, and Adapty made its paywall builder addressable by a coding agent.
The second thread is payments consolidating and moving faster. Dwolla is merging with NMI and adding push-to-card payouts, while Increase adds merchant enrichment to card transactions.
Leaders
Intuit Intelligence had three sparks. QuickBooks bank feed now handles partial payments and overpayments inline, and it can clean up a new client's chart of accounts by flagging vendor-named, duplicate, unused or mis-typed accounts, then carrying out the fix with approval.
Stigg shipped an open-source Agent Governance SDK in beta that extends feature gating and usage limits to agents, and added credit reservation and settlement for AI operations days later.
InvoiceShelf 3.0 alpha.11 adds a Purchases area with suppliers, bills, supplier credits, payments and refunds, including recurring bills. That moves it from invoicing into payables. The same release carries a PHP RCE fix.
Adapty lets a coding assistant read an existing flow and build new ones through an installable skill. It also lets apps sell a yearly plan as twelve monthly payments.
Wildcards
Dwolla announced push-to-card payouts and a combination with NMI as a single platform for card acceptance and bank transfer.
OpenBB V5 swaps AGPL for Apache-2.0 and cuts sixteen provider packages.
WP Simple Pay gave subscription payments to every user, a feature previously premium.
Themes that compounded
- Approval-gated agent actions in QuickBooks, plus governance primitives in Stigg.
- Subscription commitment mechanics in Adapty's twelve-payment annual plan and Purchasely's 12 month commitment SDK.
- Local and instant payment rails in Dwolla push-to-card and FastSpring's PromptPay.
- Bill.com moved AI into the AP inbox, which now recognizes what each incoming document is.
Watch this week
Watch for further InvoiceShelf 3.0 alphas, since the line went from alpha.11 to alpha.15 within the window, and for follow-ups to Stigg's governance SDK as it moves out of beta. Also watch whether QuickBooks carries its approval pattern from chart-of-accounts cleanup into other bookkeeping tasks.
