A side-by-side editorial comparison of Replug and Surfer SEO — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Replug is back with a rebuilt app, 13 languages and passkeys after eight quiet months.
Replug, a link-shortening and bio-link platform, posted nothing between February and October 2026. It then shipped three updates in three weeks: a rebuilt app with a new dashboard and templates on October 8, 13 interface languages with local-currency pricing on October 19, and two-step verification, passkeys, session management and link safety checks on October 27.
Surfer turns AI visibility into a to-do list, now reaching into server logs and off-page work.
Surfer now scores content for both Google rankings and AI-search citations, and its MCP server has left beta for Pro and higher plans. The October batch widens the AI-visibility surface: Recommendations now rank off-page moves like earning mentions and fixing sentiment, and a closed-beta Agent Analytics reads server logs to show which pages AI crawlers actually fetch. Distribution is broadening too, with the WordPress plugin now running the full Content Editor and the app shipping in French and Polish.

The relaunch targets reach and trust: localized pricing for buyers outside the US, and account and link security that teams and agencies expect. The roadmap before the gap was about link formats such as deep links and QR codes; the new work is about the platform around them.
More monthly posts are likely now that the rebuilt app is out; whether the deep-linking and QR work resumes or the focus stays on account features is unclear.

Since May the thread has been programmatic access plus AI-search measurement. API expansion led to MCP beta, and MCP is now generally available. Each AI-visibility release closes another gap between what Surfer measures and what it tells you to do, and that now extends beyond your own pages. Surfer is positioning itself as the system of record for how a brand appears in AI answers, not only as a writing aid.
Agent Analytics and the rebuilt Topical Map are both pre-release, so the next move is likely one of them opening up. Their data would probably feed into Recommendations the same way AI Tracker did in August.
