Two consistent threads run through the window: replacing the older cryptographic shortcuts still sitting in the codebase, and making federation failures diagnosable rather than silent. Multi-user chat and pubsub keep generating the highest volume of fixes, which is a fair map of where a working XMPP server actually spends its time.
Expect the 5.1 line to continue with MUC and pubsub fixes plus further dependency upgrades, with any remaining legacy crypto paths the most likely target for the next round of hardening.

The strategy is vertical integration sold as vendor neutrality. Telnyx wants to own the network, the GPUs and the billing relationship while letting customers pick whichever STT, TTS or LLM they prefer, including regionally — UAE now exists as both a storage location and an inference region. Email extends the same logic from the model layer to the channel layer: the pitch is no longer a voice-agent platform but every way a business reaches a customer behind one API and one invoice.
Expect the Email API to reach general availability with the deliverability tooling that category requires, and more inference regions to follow the UAE pattern where data-residency rules gate AI adoption. The component-swap cadence should continue as each new frontier model ships.
