OpenPanel
OpenPanel's 3.x line hits six builds in 36 hours, still without release notes.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Evidence and Holistics — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Evidence's last release was a February CVE sweep that also removed Evidence Cloud references.
Every tracked Evidence release is from a single day, February 6, 2026: a coordinated patch across the SDK, preprocessor, universal SQL layer and database connectors to pick up dependency updates for CVEs. The SDK patch also removes references to Evidence Cloud.
Holistics is pulling analysis out of Explore and onto the dashboard itself.
In one week Holistics shipped AI Tasks (reusable, scheduled AI jobs), AI Block narratives on dashboards, file attachments in AI chat, and Cost Analytics for AI spend. Since then it has reworked AI dashboard building in Reporting, added an HTML layout beta, and let viewers add reference and trend lines to dashboard charts without opening Explore. On October 14 the Development workspace replaced its Production/Development mode switch with a branch selector.

Nothing has shipped in the eight months since, so the open-source BI-as-code framework looks to be in maintenance mode. Removing Evidence Cloud references suggests the hosted offering has been dropped or separated, though the entries do not say why.
It is unclear from the entries whether active development will resume; the next release is more likely another dependency or security patch than new features.

AI is moving from a chat assistant to recurring work inside BI, with cost monitoring added because usage is expected to grow. The dashboard is becoming the working surface: chart state is remembered, layouts open up to HTML, and lightweight analysis happens in place. On the modeling side, workflows are converging on plain Git concepts.
Trend lines were described as "the next analysis" after reference lines, so more in-dashboard analyses (forecasts or comparisons) are likely next. AI Tasks should gain delivery targets and further cost controls.
