Element X Android vs The Events Calendar: at a glance
What is Element X Android?
Element X Android turns on multi-account and global search in its biggest release in months.
Element X ships roughly weekly, and v26.10.0 is its largest recent release. It announces multi-account support with a swipe on the avatar to switch accounts, enables global search with a background backfill worker, and turns on automatic back pagination and unread indicators by default. Notification handling also improves: an unread-only filter, a total unread count on the home screen and dismissal of notifications for rooms already read on other devices. The new timeline renderer, flagged since v26.09.3, keeps getting fixes.
What is The Events Calendar?
The Events Calendar runs a disciplined maintenance train across its whole plugin suite.
The Events Calendar is a mature WordPress events and ticketing suite spanning several plugins — the core calendar, Event Tickets, Filter Bar, Community, and Pro add-ons. The recent release stream is almost entirely maintenance: bug fixes, translation updates, accessibility work, and payment-gateway handling for PayPal, Square, and Stripe. Development is spread evenly across the plugin family rather than concentrated in one flagship.

Element X Android
5.0COMMS

◆ Current state
Element X ships roughly weekly, and v26.10.0 is its largest recent release.
◆ Where it's heading
The team is closing the remaining gaps with classic Element, and v26.10.0 removes two of the largest: multiple accounts and search across rooms. The new renderer is the main architectural change still in progress, while enterprise hooks such as Element Pro enforcement and wellknown config sit in dedicated modules for managed deployments.
◆ Prediction
Expect follow-up releases fixing multi-account and global search edge cases, and the new timeline renderer moving toward default once its fixes settle.
The Events Calendar
0.0COMMS
The Events Calendar runs a disciplined maintenance train across its whole plugin suite.
◆ Current state
The Events Calendar is a mature WordPress events and ticketing suite spanning several plugins — the core calendar, Event Tickets, Filter Bar, Community, and Pro add-ons. The recent release stream is almost entirely maintenance: bug fixes, translation updates, accessibility work, and payment-gateway handling for PayPal, Square, and Stripe. Development is spread evenly across the plugin family rather than concentrated in one flagship.
◆ Where it's heading
This is a product in steady stewardship mode. The releases show a team keeping a large installed base stable — tightening capability checks for security, fixing pagination and view rendering, improving WooCommerce and Elementor compatibility — with no new capability surface in view. Accessibility and payment reliability are recurring focus areas.
◆ Prediction
Expect the same cadence of small, per-plugin maintenance releases to continue, with security hardening and gateway compatibility as the likely themes. Nothing in these entries signals a larger feature push.
