Adapty
Adapty closes its old paywall builder and sells the annual plan as twelve payments
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Bill.com and Dwolla — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
BILL turns multi-entity into its main theme, while AI moves into the AP inbox and month-end close.
BILL's autumn releases concentrate on businesses running several related companies. Spend & Expense now supports multi-entity accounts on one credit application and shared credit line, and vendor credits can be handled across entities from the parent. AI work continues in the AP inbox, which now identifies incoming documents, and in close, with smarter coding, a period close mode and approver reminders.
Dwolla is buying its way to instant payouts while its own MCP experiment gets a public post-mortem
Dwolla's feed is mostly marketing, and the two autumn posts add to that: one on charging for instant payments and one from its COO on intelligent payment orchestration, neither describing a product change. The real moves of the year remain Push to Card, which added debit-card payouts with near real-time settlement, and the NMI combination, which folded account-to-account transfer, real-time payments, FedNow and payouts onto one platform. The January MCP retrospective is unusually candid about a launch that did not land.

The product is moving up-market through structure as much as through AI. Multi-entity support gives BILL a reason to stay as a customer adds companies, and it now reaches both AP and spend. The AI thread stays narrow and practical: sorting, coding and flagging work that staff used to do by hand, with the review step left in place.
BILL calls document recognition a first step toward an inbox that understands documents, so expect more automated handling inside AP. Further multi-entity coverage is also likely, since it has now landed in two product lines within two weeks.

The direction is consolidation of payout rails under a single API rather than new developer surfaces. Push to Card has now been announced twice, which says more about marketing cadence than shipping cadence; the genuine change of shape this year came through acquisition.
Expect the combined platforms rail coverage — FedNow, RTP, push-to-card — to be marketed as one orchestration layer, and any revived MCP work to be scoped narrower than the original endpoint-mirroring MVP.
