What is SOGo?

SOGo's 5.12 line has become a CVE conveyor belt while the team's attention sits on SOGo 6.

Six releases in three months, and the majority exist to fix vulnerabilities: XSS via crafted mail, SQL injection, JavaScript injection through hint and theme query parameters, impersonation when OpenID is paired with a non-matching user source, and two CVEs affecting PostgreSQL user sources. Releases 5.12.6 and 5.12.9 exist purely to undo regressions the security fixes introduced.

What is Double?

A bookkeeping platform absorbing one accounting task a week into its chat agent.

Double is accounting software for bookkeeping firms, built around QuickBooks Online and Sage, and almost every weekly release now attaches something new to Ask Double, its chat agent. Since late May the agent has learned to post batches of transactions from a single file, create and edit transactions from plain language, save reusable workflows as shareable skills, build workpapers by tying balances to supporting documents, import accruals, create and copy client metrics across an entire book, edit spreadsheets live in the chat, and take voice input. The newest release lets it reach outside Double entirely, into Slack, Notion, and HubSpot.

SOGo's 5.12 line has become a CVE conveyor belt while the team's attention sits on SOGo 6.

◆ Current state

Six releases in three months, and the majority exist to fix vulnerabilities: XSS via crafted mail, SQL injection, JavaScript injection through hint and theme query parameters, impersonation when OpenID is paired with a non-matching user source, and two CVEs affecting PostgreSQL user sources. Releases 5.12.6 and 5.12.9 exist purely to undo regressions the security fixes introduced.

◆ Where it's heading

Alinto declared a feature freeze on 5.12 to concentrate on SOGo 6, and the changelog reflects it — the one new capability in the window, a REST API in 5.12.2, was explicitly a pre-committed sponsored deliverable the team felt obliged to honour. What is left is a hardening cycle on a large groupware surface, with each fix carrying real regression risk into webmail and calendar.

◆ Prediction

Expect the 5.12.x line to keep producing security releases with regression follow-ups, and no new functionality until SOGo 6 surfaces.

◆ Current state

Double is accounting software for bookkeeping firms, built around QuickBooks Online and Sage, and almost every weekly release now attaches something new to Ask Double, its chat agent. Since late May the agent has learned to post batches of transactions from a single file, create and edit transactions from plain language, save reusable workflows as shareable skills, build workpapers by tying balances to supporting documents, import accruals, create and copy client metrics across an entire book, edit spreadsheets live in the chat, and take voice input. The newest release lets it reach outside Double entirely, into Slack, Notion, and HubSpot.

◆ Where it's heading

The pattern is unusually legible: each week takes one task a bookkeeper does by hand and moves it into the agent, always with a human approval step before anything posts. What changed with Connections is the boundary — until now Ask Double reasoned over Double's own data, and reaching a Slack thread or a CRM record makes it an assistant over the firm's whole context. The read/write tool separation shipped alongside it is the tell: the product is being designed for a profession where an unreviewed write is a compliance problem, not a bug. The Scale-tier and AI-credit gating throughout shows the agent is also the upsell.

◆ Prediction

Connections launched with read and write separated and writes gated on approval; the open question is when a firm can grant standing write permission for routine cases, since approval-per-action is the thing that caps how much work the agent can actually absorb.
