Pimcore vs Sender: at a glance
What is Pimcore?
Pimcore 2026.3.3.1 tightens the Twig sandbox again, two days after 2026.3.3.
Pimcore's 2026.3 line is in a security-heavy patch cycle: 2026.3.3.1 restricts what the Twig sandbox can reach (the request object and pimcore_dump), two days after 2026.3.3 fixed a Custom Reports SQL-denylist bypass and object injection. 2026.3.2 had already patched an earlier Twig sandbox bypass.
What is Sender?
Sender put its campaign and automation data behind an MCP server, moving reporting out of its own dashboard.
Sender is an email marketing platform that has spent the past year filling in platform basics — transactional email and a rebuilt dashboard in December, a refreshed email builder and brand settings in January, ecommerce reports extended to the Standard plan in March, and a rebuilt subscriber import in August. The newest release breaks that pattern: an MCP server that lets an AI assistant query campaign dashboards, automation reports and prior send history directly.

Pimcore
5.0MKT AUTO
Pimcore 2026.3.3.1 tightens the Twig sandbox again, two days after 2026.3.3.
◆ Current state
Pimcore's 2026.3 line is in a security-heavy patch cycle: 2026.3.3.1 restricts what the Twig sandbox can reach (the request object and pimcore_dump), two days after 2026.3.3 fixed a Custom Reports SQL-denylist bypass and object injection. 2026.3.2 had already patched an earlier Twig sandbox bypass.
◆ Where it's heading
Every 2026.3 patch since 2026.3.1 has carried security fixes, and the Twig sandbox has now been hardened twice. Feature work has paused after the 2026.3.0 workflow extension slots, and the weekly patches are going to template and reporting surfaces that admins expose to editors.
◆ Prediction
Expect more weekly 2026.3.x patches with advisories on template and reporting surfaces before any 2026.4 feature release.
Sender
6.3MKT AUTO
Sender put its campaign and automation data behind an MCP server, moving reporting out of its own dashboard.
◆ Current state
Sender is an email marketing platform that has spent the past year filling in platform basics — transactional email and a rebuilt dashboard in December, a refreshed email builder and brand settings in January, ecommerce reports extended to the Standard plan in March, and a rebuilt subscriber import in August. The newest release breaks that pattern: an MCP server that lets an AI assistant query campaign dashboards, automation reports and prior send history directly.
◆ Where it's heading
The platform work was about reaching feature parity with larger competitors. The MCP server is a different kind of move, treating Sender's data as something to be consumed by an assistant the customer already uses rather than only through Sender's interface. Note that the feed mixes tutorials and educational posts with genuine release notes, so cadence here overstates shipping volume.
◆ Prediction
Expect write actions to follow read access — creating campaigns or triggering automations through the same server — since reporting alone is the easier half. The entries do not describe the permission model, which is the part that will determine how far this can go.
