What is OpenObserve?

OpenObserve's 1.1 cycle is all plumbing: caches, storage encoding, and PromQL internals.

OpenObserve's 1.0 line has settled into backport-only patches for PromQL, OTLP series identity and alert edge cases. The 1.1 branch has reached a second release candidate. rc1 bounded the metrics and search caches by memory budget, and rc2 adds a typed sample-block encoding for the MIDX index along with a PromQL scan-context refactor. A large share of rc2 is test deflaking and generated E2E coverage.

What is Snowplow?

Snowplow's tracked releases are loader and tracker version bumps with no notes.

The tracked Snowplow entries are component tags from mid-June: the Snowflake loader 0.6.0 and 0.6.1, JavaScript tracker 4.8.2 and the Google Cloud Storage loader 0.5.7. The release feed carries only the tag names, so what changed in each is not visible.

6.3

OpenObserve's 1.1 cycle is all plumbing: caches, storage encoding, and PromQL internals.

◆ Current state

OpenObserve's 1.0 line has settled into backport-only patches for PromQL, OTLP series identity and alert edge cases. The 1.1 branch has reached a second release candidate. rc1 bounded the metrics and search caches by memory budget, and rc2 adds a typed sample-block encoding for the MIDX index along with a PromQL scan-context refactor. A large share of rc2 is test deflaking and generated E2E coverage.

◆ Where it's heading

The team is preparing 1.1 as a scale-and-stability release for metrics-heavy deployments rather than a feature drop. Storage-format work in MIDX and cache bounding both point at lowering memory and disk cost per series. Anomaly detection still appears only as archived branch tags, so it has not reached a release tag.

◆ Prediction

Expect v1.1.0 GA soon after rc2, headlined by metrics performance and cache limits. Whether anomaly detection ships in 1.1 is still unclear from the entries.

Snowplow's tracked releases are loader and tracker version bumps with no notes.

◆ Current state

The tracked Snowplow entries are component tags from mid-June: the Snowflake loader 0.6.0 and 0.6.1, JavaScript tracker 4.8.2 and the Google Cloud Storage loader 0.5.7. The release feed carries only the tag names, so what changed in each is not visible.

◆ Where it's heading

Snowplow releases its pipeline as separately versioned components, and the feed reflects that as a series of loader and tracker bumps. With no notes and no entries since June, the entries can't show a product direction.

◆ Prediction

The entries are too sparse to support a prediction; it's unclear whether the feed has gone quiet or releases moved elsewhere.
