A side-by-side editorial comparison of Navidrome and SiYuan — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Navidrome patches five vulnerabilities and gets Jellyfin clients working end to end.
Navidrome's only tracked release, v0.64.1, fixes five reported vulnerabilities: unthrottled Subsonic logins, SSRF and local file reads through M3U artwork, player takeover between users, and library filters skipped on three endpoints. It also makes the Manet and JellyBox Jellyfin clients sync and sign in correctly, adds Quick Connect sign-in and LAN discovery, and lets smart playlists reference other playlists.
SiYuan opens 3.8.8 with Gemini support and database automation.
SiYuan cycled 3.8.7 through four beta respins with unchanged notes, then opened 3.8.8 with a long alpha.1: Gemini Interactions API support, automation that collects blocks into databases, tab-to-mind-map conversion, compact desktop mode and many editor refinements. The 3.8.7 work centred on an agent that manages snippets, writes plugins and signs in with a ChatGPT account.

Navidrome is broadening beyond its Subsonic API roots by impersonating a Jellyfin server well enough for real Jellyfin apps to work against it. The security release shows multi-user and multi-library deployments are getting tighter permission checks as that surface grows.
Expect more Jellyfin client validation and compatibility fixes. With only one entry tracked, the larger roadmap isn't visible.

AI is moving from a side panel into the workspace's own controls, and model choice is widening beyond ChatGPT to Gemini. Databases keep gaining structure and now automation, while editor polish arrives in large batches. The product is becoming a local-first notes app its own agent and automations can reshape.
Expect a run of 3.8.8 alphas refining the Gemini integration and database automation. The entries don't show whether 3.8.7 gets a stable tag before 3.8.8 moves to beta.
