grommunio vs Zoho Cliq
A side-by-side editorial comparison of grommunio and Zoho Cliq — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
grommunio vs Zoho Cliq: at a glance
What is grommunio?
grommunio's feed publishes release pointers only; the changes themselves live on GitHub.
The crawled feed carries twelve release-note stubs spanning August 2021 to June 2026, each the same 134-character sentence directing readers to GitHub for the detailed logs. Version 2026.06.1 is the most recent. Nothing in the feed states what changed in any release, so the platform's current capability surface cannot be read from this source.
What is Zoho Cliq?
Zoho Cliq is opening its bot platform to AI coding agents through MCP tools.
Cliq 7.0 shipped in August with AI summarisation, a developer platform refresh and Cliq Mini embedded across Zoho apps. September added reworked guest access, Cliq Rooms on Neat hardware and per-role subscription plans. In October Cliq published MCP tools for its developer platform, so automations can be generated with an AI coding assistant instead of written by hand.

grommunio
0.0COMMS
grommunio's feed publishes release pointers only; the changes themselves live on GitHub.
◆ Current state
The crawled feed carries twelve release-note stubs spanning August 2021 to June 2026, each the same 134-character sentence directing readers to GitHub for the detailed logs. Version 2026.06.1 is the most recent. Nothing in the feed states what changed in any release, so the platform's current capability surface cannot be read from this source.
◆ Where it's heading
The only signal available is cadence, and it is thin and irregular: twelve published notes across roughly five years, with 2023.11.x, 2025.01.x and 2026.06.1 as the visible markers. That is a release-notes page maintained as an index rather than a changelog. Reading direction from grommunio would require the GitHub logs these notes point at.
◆ Prediction
Expect the next entry to be another dated pointer of the same form. Whether grommunio's real release cadence matches this feed cannot be determined from what is published here.
Zoho Cliq
6.3COMMS
Zoho Cliq is opening its bot platform to AI coding agents through MCP tools.
◆ Current state
Cliq 7.0 shipped in August with AI summarisation, a developer platform refresh and Cliq Mini embedded across Zoho apps. September added reworked guest access, Cliq Rooms on Neat hardware and per-role subscription plans. In October Cliq published MCP tools for its developer platform, so automations can be generated with an AI coding assistant instead of written by hand.
◆ Where it's heading
Cliq is turning into the messaging layer of the Zoho suite and widening its reach: other Zoho apps, meeting-room hardware, external guests, and now AI agents that write its automations. The developer platform keeps lowering the cost of building bots and workflows, first through 7.0's low-code tooling and now through MCP. Pricing is moving the same way, with role-based plans meant to put more of each company on Cliq.
◆ Prediction
Expect more of the Cliq developer platform (bots, handlers, widgets) to be exposed through MCP. The entries don't show whether AI-assisted building will be priced separately.
