Intuit's QuickBooks changelog is dominated by the new bank feed, where AI categorization and matching have moved from shipping predictions to qualifying them. Recent releases add confidence badges on suggested matches, warnings when a transaction looks like it should be matched rather than categorized, disambiguation among identical-amount transfers, and prediction of Class and Location fields that previously came in blank. Running in parallel, Classic Reports has been sunset in favour of Modern Reports.

The bank feed is being rebuilt around a single idea: an accountant will not accept an automated suggestion they cannot assess. Every recent entry either extends what the model predicts or tells the user how much to trust it — badges that score each suggestion, warnings that flag the double-counting trap of categorizing something that should have been matched, and an option to hide AI explanations for people who found them noisy. Prediction coverage is expanding outward from the category field to From/To payees, Class, and Location, which are exactly the fields that make reports usable for departmental and job-level reporting.

Prediction has now reached most of the fields on a bank transaction while confidence scoring stays advisory, so the open question is whether Intuit lets high-confidence matches post automatically — some form of auto-accept threshold or bulk-approve-by-confidence is the natural next move.
