What is Ever Teams?

Ten tagged releases in a fortnight, and not one of them changed the product.

Ever Teams is an open-source work and time tracking platform, but its recent release stream contains no product changes at all. Every tag in this window is continuous-integration plumbing — migrating runners off dead ubicloud labels onto self-hosted ARC, gating a legacy DigitalOcean deploy behind a flag, routing dev and stage builds through an internal Verdaccio registry, and bumping actions to Node 24. Several tags carry no notes beyond a link to the full changelog.

What is Hostaway?

Hostaway is pushing past bookings into the paperwork hosts actually dread.

July's output clusters around money and documents. The AI CoHost assistant got a month of accuracy work — it now reads per-booking fees, commissions and taxes, and infers guest origin from the reservation or phone number while flagging the guess. The direct-booking website gained a two-step checkout with alternative payment methods, 3D Secure on Pay Now charges and an instant calendar block. Closing the month, financial data permissions moved from all-or-nothing to field-level control, so a property owner can be shown the lines that concern them and nothing else.

Ever Teams vs Hostaway: editorial side-by-side

E5.0

Ten tagged releases in a fortnight, and not one of them changed the product.

◆ Current state

Ever Teams is an open-source work and time tracking platform, but its recent release stream contains no product changes at all. Every tag in this window is continuous-integration plumbing — migrating runners off dead ubicloud labels onto self-hosted ARC, gating a legacy DigitalOcean deploy behind a flag, routing dev and stage builds through an internal Verdaccio registry, and bumping actions to Node 24. Several tags carry no notes beyond a link to the full changelog.

◆ Where it's heading

What these entries actually document is a build-infrastructure migration: the team is moving CI off hosted runners onto self-hosted ARC and fixing every step that assumed the old environment. Because the release pipeline tags on every merge to main, a single infrastructure fix produces four or five version numbers, which makes the cadence look far higher than the change rate. Application work is happening elsewhere and is not surfacing in these notes.

◆ Prediction

Expect the CI migration tags to keep landing until the ARC runners are stable, after which product changes should reappear in the notes. Nothing in this window indicates what those changes will be.

H6.3

Hostaway is pushing past bookings into the paperwork hosts actually dread.

◆ Current state

July's output clusters around money and documents. The AI CoHost assistant got a month of accuracy work — it now reads per-booking fees, commissions and taxes, and infers guest origin from the reservation or phone number while flagging the guess. The direct-booking website gained a two-step checkout with alternative payment methods, 3D Secure on Pay Now charges and an instant calendar block. Closing the month, financial data permissions moved from all-or-nothing to field-level control, so a property owner can be shown the lines that concern them and nothing else.

◆ Where it's heading

The through-line is Hostaway taking on the parts of property management that sit either side of the stay: money in, documents out. Checkout is being rebuilt to convert like an OTA while collecting like a merchant, and invoicing is being rebuilt to satisfy tax authorities rather than just produce a PDF. The permissions work extends that same money layer to who is allowed to see it — the platform is increasingly treating property owners, not just managers, as users it has to serve. Around that core the work is capacity and reach: multi-unit listings raised from 150 to 254, notifications localized across six languages, and richer cancellation and no-show data on the Public API.

◆ Prediction

France is already named as the next e-invoicing market, so expect the billing-details page to expand country by country with field sets adapting per jurisdiction. With financial visibility now controllable per field, an owner-facing reporting surface built on those same permissions is the natural follow-on.
