HOMER
HOMER 11 keeps shipping weekly: OTLP on the SIP ladder, tunable transaction windows, safer storage.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Element Call and YuJa — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
With the protocol cutover behind it, Element Call is back to polishing the in-call experience.
Element Call finished its architectural transition this summer: multi-SFU routing became the default in v0.21 and MatrixRTC legacy mode was removed in v0.25. The releases since are smaller: audio output defaults, delayed-leave timing tweaks, and now a quick audio menu and bell reaction sound in v0.28.
YuJa's suite updates lean on proctoring, analytics and LMS-embedded workflows.
YuJa ships suite-wide version trains (v25.6, v25.7) across separate products: Verity proctoring, Engage polling, Lumina video, FeedbackFlow assessment, and accessibility tools. Updates focus on misconduct detection, engagement analytics, and tighter LMS embedding. The newest captured entry is from October 2025, so the feed is a year stale.

The team is moving from protocol plumbing to call ergonomics and embedding. Recent work targets audio controls, reactions, and the embedded component used inside Element Web, along with privacy hygiene such as redacting analytics IDs from bug reports. Release cadence has stretched to roughly two to three weeks per release candidate.
Expect more in-call controls and embedded-widget fixes in the next release candidates. A new breaking change looks unlikely while the post-cutover stack settles.

Each product is being pulled deeper into the LMS and into assessment integrity, with AI applied to proctoring flags, video chaptering and accessibility remediation. The pattern is breadth across many modules rather than a single flagship change.
Whether YuJa has shipped beyond v25.7 is unclear; the crawler has captured nothing since October 2025.
