Holistics
Holistics is turning its BI layer into a place where AI runs on a schedule.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Countly and Tinybird — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Countly is running two release lines on autopilot while quietly hardening its self-hosted core.
Countly ships paired patch releases on its 24.05 and 25.03 branches every one to three weeks, and most of them are fixes: data-manager transformations, event keys with special characters, chart tooltips. The substantive work of the last quarter was security: sanitized HTML sinks, scoped event hooks, a slimmer Docker image, and a sandbox swap for custom hook code. New capability is concentrated in the enterprise journey engine and a rebuilt license system.
Tinybird keeps shipping weekly, now tightening the knobs on deduplication and indexing.
Tinybird ships a changelog every Friday, and the recent ones alternate between MCP tooling for LLM access and operational controls for its ClickHouse-based stack. The October 2 release adds secondary indexes in Data Source settings and a configurable deduplication window, tightens SQL API and deployment validation, and makes arm64 Tinybird Local depend on a 4KiB page size kernel. The Classic migration period has ended, so v1 is now the only path forward.

The product is in a maintenance-and-hardening phase rather than a feature push, with the LTS branch absorbing the security work and enterprise customers getting the few new features. The License v2 entitlements and slot model, plus tracker-side license lifecycle reporting, suggest Countly is tightening how it meters and enforces paid self-hosted installs. Journey engine is the one surface that keeps gaining capability release after release.
Expect License v2 to reach the LTS branch and further journey-engine additions in the next 25.03.x release; the entries give no signal of a new major line yet.

The product is moving from 'real-time analytics API' toward a managed data backend that both developers and LLM agents can query. MCP tooling (one Endpoint tool, configurable formats, query plans) covers the agent side. Secondary indexes, dedup windows, on-demand Copy Pipe compute and faster Materialized View deploys cover the operator side. With Classic gone, expect more of the backlog to be about tuning v1 than about migrating to it.
Expect more schema-level tuning controls exposed in Data Source settings and further MCP tool refinements; the entries don't show whether MCP will gain write or ingest operations.
