What is Countly?

Countly is running two release lines on autopilot while quietly hardening its self-hosted core.

Countly ships paired patch releases on its 24.05 and 25.03 branches every one to three weeks, and most of them are fixes: data-manager transformations, event keys with special characters, chart tooltips. The substantive work of the last quarter was security: sanitized HTML sinks, scoped event hooks, a slimmer Docker image, and a sandbox swap for custom hook code. New capability is concentrated in the enterprise journey engine and a rebuilt license system.

What is OpenObserve?

OpenObserve shipped 1.0 and is now in stabilization mode, with 1.1 lining up behind it.

OpenObserve released four 1.0.x patches in about ten days. Nearly all of them backport PromQL correctness fixes, OTLP series identity fixes and alert edge cases. The only user-facing addition is a data-connection onboarding popup for cloud users, and anomaly-detection work is visible in the feed only as archived branch activity.

ANALYTICS
5.0

Countly is running two release lines on autopilot while quietly hardening its self-hosted core.

◆ Current state

Countly ships paired patch releases on its 24.05 and 25.03 branches every one to three weeks, and most of them are fixes: data-manager transformations, event keys with special characters, chart tooltips. The substantive work of the last quarter was security: sanitized HTML sinks, scoped event hooks, a slimmer Docker image, and a sandbox swap for custom hook code. New capability is concentrated in the enterprise journey engine and a rebuilt license system.

◆ Where it's heading

The product is in a maintenance-and-hardening phase rather than a feature push, with the LTS branch absorbing the security work and enterprise customers getting the few new features. The License v2 entitlements and slot model, plus tracker-side license lifecycle reporting, suggest Countly is tightening how it meters and enforces paid self-hosted installs. Journey engine is the one surface that keeps gaining capability release after release.

◆ Prediction

Expect License v2 to reach the LTS branch and further journey-engine additions in the next 25.03.x release; the entries give no signal of a new major line yet.

OpenObserve
ANALYTICS
6.3

OpenObserve shipped 1.0 and is now in stabilization mode, with 1.1 lining up behind it.

◆ Current state

OpenObserve released four 1.0.x patches in about ten days. Nearly all of them backport PromQL correctness fixes, OTLP series identity fixes and alert edge cases. The only user-facing addition is a data-connection onboarding popup for cloud users, and anomaly-detection work is visible in the feed only as archived branch activity.

◆ Where it's heading

The team is hardening metrics and alerting to make 1.0 trustworthy as a Prometheus-compatible backend while 1.1 collects performance work. The 1.1 release candidate puts memory limits on the metrics and search caches, which points toward larger deployments where unbounded caches were a real operational risk. The anomaly-detection branches suggest that the headline 1.1 feature has not landed on a release tag yet.

◆ Prediction

Expect v1.1.0 to go GA within weeks with the cache and PromQL performance work, and possibly the first shipped anomaly-detection feature; the entries don't show enough to confirm the latter.
