What is NATS?

NATS 2.15 replaces JetStream's assignment engine with a desired-state metalayer — the biggest architectural move in the project's recent history.

NATS is running dual-track releases: the 2.14.x line is receiving steady reliability work (consumer race conditions, filestore correctness, Raft edge cases), while 2.15.0 has entered the RC stage. The 2.14.6 and 2.14.7 release candidates collectively address more than a dozen concurrency and persistence defects accumulated in the messaging and storage layers. The jump from 2.12 to 2.14 — skipping 2.13 entirely — has been followed by an unusually dense sequence of point releases.
