v1.37 consolidates a multi-release push to make Kubernetes the native scheduler for AI/ML workloads. The pattern across Workload-Aware Scheduling, DRA, and scale-to-zero is eliminating the need for external schedulers and add-ons that teams previously built because Kubernetes couldn't coordinate multi-pod or GPU-intensive workloads natively. Rootless mode reaching Beta completes another long-running security hardening track started in 2018.

This enables cancel-in-flight moves, safe node evacuation, and disaster-recovery rescue for clusters that have lost quorum — operations that were previously impossible or required manual intervention. The sustained 2.14 backport cadence shows the team is catching bugs at production-scale cluster edge cases while the 2.15 architecture matures in RC.

◆ Prediction

2.15 stable will land within weeks once RC.1 feedback is incorporated. The desired-state engine will unlock maintenance operations (zero-downtime scale, node evacuation, quorum recovery) that currently require downtime, and expect the 2.15.x patch series to begin shortly after as operators stress-test evacuate and rescue endpoints at scale.
