A patch of seven fixes, one of which stops the log tables growing forever.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Buttondown and Prospero — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
A twenty-item day, and most of it is the import path finally behaving.
Buttondown publishes a dated changelog most days, and the 1 September entry is the largest in this window at twenty items. The substance is import and analytics: PDFs are rejected up front instead of parking a stuck import, a bare address list with a header row is no longer mistaken for an archive, subscriber imports can no longer map to columns that do not exist, and the analytics panel gains a one-click CSV download of an email's event log. The rest is editor and rendering repair — bold and linked text ignoring the chosen colour, image resizing exceeding the email width, preflight counts skipping snippets and the header and footer.
Prospero is turning proposals from documents into instrumented, reusable assets.
Prospero builds and sends business proposals, with templates, a content library, e-signature and CRM connections around them. The releases over the past nine months form a steady, unhurried cadence of practical additions: catalogs and saved deliverables for reusing priced line items, content locking to protect approved sections, bulk actions across proposals, form builder fields, HubSpot and Make.com integrations, and now page-by-page analytics on how prospects read a proposal.

Three consecutive entries have concentrated on the same two places: getting subscribers in, and telling you what happened after you sent. The import fixes are not isolated defects but one flow being hardened step by step — column mapping, file-type detection, header-row handling — which is where a self-serve product loses people before they ever send. The editor and theme fixes are the residue of the Modern theme and Fancy mode, both still generating rendering reports.
The import flow has now been repaired at four separate points in a week, so the next step is likely the flow itself rather than more fixes to it — a clearer error state or a preview before commit. The changelog does not signal one.

Two consistent threads. The first treats proposal content as a reusable asset rather than a document — catalogs, saved deliverables, locked sections and templates all reduce how much of each proposal is written from scratch. The second instruments what happens after the proposal is sent, moving from delivery and signature toward telling a salesperson which pages held attention and which were skipped. The AI writing assistant sits alongside both without yet being connected to either.
Engagement data is now captured per page but presented for a human to read; the natural next step is acting on it — alerting when a prospect revisits pricing, or feeding the analytics back into template suggestions.
