What is blogdown?

blogdown's release notes have become a running log of Hugo's breaking changes.

blogdown builds Hugo websites from R Markdown. Nearly every entry in the visible window reacts to something changed upstream: Hugo's installer format, its YAML logical parsing, its server flags, or xfun's internals. The package's own feature surface has been stable across the whole period.

What is Statusbrew?

Steady inbox-and-publishing polish, paced by what the social platforms allow

Statusbrew ships small, clearly scoped changes several times a week, split between the Engage inbox and the publishing composer. The recent run is unglamorous but coherent: deleted-message attribution, conversation count accuracy, bulk tag removal, granular notification toggles. Much of the composer work is downstream of platform limits — Instagram collaborator counts, TikTok reply length, YouTube audience settings.

blogdown's release notes have become a running log of Hugo's breaking changes.

◆ Current state

blogdown builds Hugo websites from R Markdown. Nearly every entry in the visible window reacts to something changed upstream: Hugo's installer format, its YAML logical parsing, its server flags, or xfun's internals. The package's own feature surface has been stable across the whole period.

◆ Where it's heading

This is a compatibility-maintenance line rather than a development one. The maintainer absorbs churn from two upstreams at once, Hugo and the xfun/knitr toolchain, and occasionally narrows scope to keep that tractable, as with dropping HugoBlox themes from testing in 1.22. The macOS work in 1.23 shows the cost rising: Hugo's new .pkg installer requires a sudo password, so blogdown can no longer fully automate installation there.

◆ Prediction

Expect the next release to track another Hugo change. The macOS .pkg path is the most likely place for follow-up, since the support just added cannot be automated.

Steady inbox-and-publishing polish, paced by what the social platforms allow

◆ Current state

Statusbrew ships small, clearly scoped changes several times a week, split between the Engage inbox and the publishing composer. The recent run is unglamorous but coherent: deleted-message attribution, conversation count accuracy, bulk tag removal, granular notification toggles. Much of the composer work is downstream of platform limits — Instagram collaborator counts, TikTok reply length, YouTube audience settings.

◆ Where it's heading

The investment is concentrated in Engage, where the changes consistently target the friction of running a shared inbox at volume: bulk actions, per-category notifications, counts that do not lie while recalculating, and clarity about who deleted what. Publishing gets attention mainly when a network changes its own rules. That split suggests the inbox is where the team sees differentiation and the composer is maintained to parity.

◆ Prediction

Expect more bulk operations and notification granularity in Engage, plus continued reactive updates as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube adjust their API limits.
