Fulcrum
Fulcrum turns on Insights, its AI assistant for field data, for every customer.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of Basedash and Highlight — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
Basedash adds view-only seats so whole departments can read dashboards without editing.
Basedash has become a chat-first BI tool: the assistant builds whole dashboards, writes artifacts through MCP and runs on GPT-6.1 Sol by default. The newest release adds View-only members, who can open shared dashboards, charts, automations and chat history, use filters and drilldowns and export, but cannot edit, chat or run automations. It follows the Connector gallery, private Slack DMs and a mobile Home Screen app.
Highlight grew from session replay into SQL-driven observability, then went quiet in August 2025.
Highlight is an open-source observability stack covering session replay, errors, logs, traces and metrics. Its last tagged self-hosted release, docker-v0.5.6, shipped in August 2025 with session-replay performance fixes and session restarts. Nothing has been tagged since.

Recent releases spread Basedash's reach on two ends: more ways to get data in (connectors) and more ways for people to consume answers (Slack, mobile, now read-only seats). View-only access widens the audience from analysts to stakeholders and clients without opening up editing or AI usage.
Expect finer-grained sharing and permission controls to follow view-only seats, alongside more connectors in the gallery. The entries don't show whether view-only members are priced differently.

Through 2025 the releases added OpenTelemetry metrics ingest, a SQL editor and builder for graphs, SQL alerts and dashboards created from log and trace views. That pushed Highlight from a replay tool toward a general telemetry platform. The cadence then slowed from roughly monthly to a two-month gap before stopping.
The entries show no release in more than a year, so the self-hosted line's future is unclear. Any new tag would most likely be maintenance on session replay and OTel ingestion.
