Gumloop widens what agents can reach while n8n makes production execution safer to shut down
The week in marketing-automation
Automation platforms are competing on how far agents can reach and how safely they run. Gumloop released 12.4, which lets its Gumball agent build custom MCPs for apps the platform does not support, after 12.0 gave agents a real browser for any site. n8n is working the other end, making queue-mode workers suspend in-flight production executions at shutdown rather than cutting them off.
Both ends matter: reach is what gets a platform adopted, and execution safety is what keeps it in production. Meanwhile Formidable Forms keeps handing MCP tools to each add-on, so AI clients can manage landing pages the way they already manage views and coupons.
Leaders
Gumloop ships a numbered release every few days, and each widens what agents can reach and govern. 12.0 added Agent Browser, 12.2 added agent-owned secrets so everyone using a custom agent runs with the same credential, and 12.4 adds multiple accounts for the same app and sharing of artifacts, skills and agents across teams.
n8n runs two release lines in parallel, 2.43 and 2.44, with a patch almost every day. On October 16, 2.43.7 made workers suspend in-flight production executions at shutdown, while 2.44.3 stopped Observer detail lines from being discarded. Model pickers now list Gemini models by name, prioritized first.
Formidable Forms shipped Landing Pages v1.0.04 with MCP support, so AI clients can list, create, update and delete landing pages, and Forms API v2.0.2 lets add-ons that ship their own MCP support take over automatically. It follows core v7.0, which added spam entries and shortcode hardening.
Pimcore shipped 2026.3.2 as a security release covering IDOR, Twig sandbox and object injection fixes, after 2026.2.12 patched code generation and video XSS advisories. The 2026.3 line also lets teams store versions in different storage per element type.
Wildcards
Buttondown posts a changelog entry almost every day. This week's include a Gmail clipping estimate in the email preview, Bluesky password alerts, and a send confirmation showing subject and recipient count.
OpenEMM ships versioned builds with no notes on what changed. Its 26.05 line reached GA in July, and only frontend builds have followed.
Themes that compounded
- MCP as the add-on interface: Formidable Forms and Gumloop, the latter building MCPs on demand.
- Shutdown and failure safety: execution suspension at n8n, send safeguards at Buttondown.
- Security releases as a weekly rhythm at Pimcore.
- Enterprise governance for agents: shared secrets and cross-team sharing at Gumloop.
Watch this week
Watch whether n8n's 2.43 and 2.44 lines converge, since patches are landing on both daily. Gumloop's cadence suggests another numbered release before the next report, and further Formidable Forms add-ons could join the MCP set.
