Release-line maturation dominates IT service management: OTOBO 11.1 goes stable and Zabbix 8.0 nears it.
The week in it-service-management
Three products updated, and none of them is a feature story. The week is about release-line hygiene: Zabbix pushed its 8.0 line through release candidates, OTOBO took 11.1 out of beta, and OneUptime kept shipping builds against its core incident workflow.
The one forward-looking move is OneUptime's AI hold on paging, where the AI takes the incident first and a Page now button overrides it. Everything else is maturation of existing lines.
Leaders
OneUptime leads on the AI-first paging pattern and on steady build cadence. Build 9394 fixed release notes that were listing the previous release's PRs, which matters because the upgrade guide sends self-hosters to them. Build 9330 merged follow-ups across incidents, alerts, episodes, maintenance windows and on-call.
OTOBO shipped 11.1.1, its first stable tag on the 11.1 line after three betas since June. That is the sector's clearest milestone this week.
Zabbix reached 8.0 release candidates. The first RC is the one forward-looking entry in a window otherwise filled with patch builds.
Themes that compounded
- Two of three products moved a major line toward stable (Zabbix 8.0 RCs, OTOBO 11.1.1).
- Self-hosted upgrade paths drew attention, including OneUptime's release-notes fix.
- Incident workflow remains the active surface for the one product shipping new behavior.
Watch this week
Watch whether Zabbix cuts a further 8.0 release candidate or a stable tag, given the short gaps between RCs, and whether OneUptime extends its AI-hold paging pattern beyond the first incident response step.
