CRMs moved prospecting inside the product: calling, voice agents and Claude connectors landed in a week.
The week in crm
The sector's direction is the prospecting loop collapsing into the CRM. Close CRM, folk and Streak each added something that used to live in a separate tool, whether calling, voice agents or an AI assistant's access to deal data.
Leaders
Close CRM merged Book Meeting and Send Scheduling Link into a single Schedule Meeting skill, so a voice agent can try live booking and fall back to a link in the same call. That builds on its phone number rebuild, which lets voice agents be assigned outbound caller IDs, and on Chloe picking up new surfaces.
folk added calling with call recording in beta, a week after phone-number finding, and moved customer data to the EU. Its MCP connector exposes interaction history to outside AI assistants.
Streak became a Claude connector that any Claude user can add in one click to query or write to their CRM in natural language. Automations can now trigger on new emails, calls and meeting notes, and data validation now holds on mobile.
Nutshell added a CallRail integration that ties inbound calls to marketing sources, after a quiet September that followed a dense August of Smart Sequences and SMS sync.
Wildcards
Twenty 2.46 converted workflow record rich text to BlockNote, so automation content matches the editor on records. It follows a 2.45 performance pass on MCP schemas and caches, and continues the unglamorous consolidation of the workflow surface. The same release is also tracked under Twenty, whose feed notes the MCP tools now generate lighter JSON Schemas.
Themes that compounded
- Telephony inside the CRM at Close CRM, folk and Nutshell.
- Outside AI assistants given access through MCP or connectors at folk and Streak.
- Regional data hosting as an onboarding unlock, as at folk.
- GroupOffice and Fat Free CRM showed activity only as unnoted builds and a CI tag, so no direction is readable there.
Watch this week
Watch whether folk's call recording leaves beta and whether Close extends its voice-agent skills past scheduling. Streak's activity-triggered automations are new, so the next release should show whether they get AI-driven actions.
