◆Current state
Koofr is a European consumer cloud storage service, with Koofr Vault as its client-side encrypted layer. The dominant event of the past year is a complete rewrite of the iOS app, shipped as 4.0.0 in June: native Files app integration, automatic background photo and video backup, saving from other apps' share sheets, HEIC or JPEG choice on upload, labels, and search by file type and label. Document scanning followed in July. The rest of the feed is a mix of Vault polish, promotional discounts, and incident notices — a DDoS in April, a Google domain flagging in January.
◆Where it's heading
The company's attention is clearly on mobile parity with the large providers, and the sequencing shows it: rebuild the app, then add automatic backup, then add the capture features that make the phone a source rather than a viewer. Koofr Vault gets steady but smaller attention, keeping the encrypted layer close behind the main product. The recurring discount campaigns and gift card work suggest consumer acquisition matters as much as feature depth here.
◆Prediction
Automatic background backup shipped on iOS with an explicit note about how iOS schedules uploads; the same capability reaching Android at comparable quality is the obvious next step, since the feed already treats the two platforms as a pair for Vault changes.
