What is v0 by Vercel?

v0 is turning itself into an API-callable build agent that reads your Figma and your warehouse.

v0 ships weekly, and the releases have shifted from the chat window to everything around it: a Platform API, an MCP server, a skills system, and direct connections into Figma, Shopify, and Snowflake. The model picker runs four tiers up to Claude Opus 5, with the top Fast tier repriced to about a third of its former cost. Governance arrived alongside the openness — team deployment policies, scoped permissions, and design systems that can be set as a team default.

What is k0s?

k0s ships one fix four times a day — the cost of keeping four Kubernetes branches current.

Four patch releases were cut within eleven minutes of each other on 27 July, one per supported branch from 1.33 through 1.36, each carrying the same konnectivity server-count fix backported alongside its own set of dependency bumps — Kubernetes, etcd, containerd, Go, Helm, Calico, Alpine. Nearly every line is authored by k0s-bot. The only forward-looking entry is v1.37.0-alpha.1, which opens the next minor with an autopilot update-window fix and an etcd 3.7.0 release candidate.

v0 is turning itself into an API-callable build agent that reads your Figma and your warehouse.

◆ Current state

v0 ships weekly, and the releases have shifted from the chat window to everything around it: a Platform API, an MCP server, a skills system, and direct connections into Figma, Shopify, and Snowflake. The model picker runs four tiers up to Claude Opus 5, with the top Fast tier repriced to about a third of its former cost. Governance arrived alongside the openness — team deployment policies, scoped permissions, and design systems that can be set as a team default.

◆ Where it's heading

The through-line is v0 becoming drivable by something other than a person typing in a browser. The MCP server went from reading chats in June to answering plan approvals and permission prompts in July, which is the last step before another agent can run a v0 build end to end. Design input moved the same way: Figma stopped being an import-and-screenshot step and became a structured file v0 reads while it builds. Each new capability now ships with a team-scoped policy attached, which is what a tool looks like when it starts selling upward.

◆ Prediction

Expect the Platform API and MCP surfaces to converge, with v2 leaving beta carrying the plan-approval semantics the MCP server already exposes. More first-party data connectors following the Snowflake and Shopify pattern is the other obvious next move.

5.0

k0s ships one fix four times a day — the cost of keeping four Kubernetes branches current.

◆ Current state

Four patch releases were cut within eleven minutes of each other on 27 July, one per supported branch from 1.33 through 1.36, each carrying the same konnectivity server-count fix backported alongside its own set of dependency bumps — Kubernetes, etcd, containerd, Go, Helm, Calico, Alpine. Nearly every line is authored by k0s-bot. The only forward-looking entry is v1.37.0-alpha.1, which opens the next minor with an autopilot update-window fix and an etcd 3.7.0 release candidate.

◆ Where it's heading

The release stream is almost entirely supply-chain maintenance: k0s bundles a full Kubernetes distribution, so its job is to absorb upstream patch releases across every supported branch and republish them quickly. That makes cadence a poor proxy for progress here — four same-day tags represent one fix, not four. Product-level change surfaces only in alpha releases of the next minor, where things like autopilot behaviour and etcd major-version prep appear before being backported.

◆ Prediction

Expect the 1.37 alpha line to continue toward a stable release while the four maintained branches keep receiving synchronised dependency and backport batches.
