What is Thread?

Thread is making the ticket, not the channel, the place an MSP conversation actually lives.

Outbound calling went live in late June: technicians place calls from the contact panel in Inbox, and the recording, transcript, and AI summary land on the ticket automatically, with the full transcript also pushed to the PSA as an attachment. The surrounding work is almost entirely about fidelity — Microsoft Teams emoji reactions now sync back into Inbox so an acknowledgment isn't lost, secondary assignees get companion-app notifications rather than only the primary, and flows can select which updates reach Slack and Teams instead of firing everything. July added a navigation redesign with per-user themes and ordering, plus holiday and custom closures that hold Messenger, auto-responses, and the Reminder Agent to one schedule.

What is iTop?

iTop's 3.3 beta stretches the CMDB to containers and finally ships non-English sample data

The only substantive entry is the 3.3.0 beta, which adds an optional Container Management module introducing a Cloud class plus container image, application and cluster classes, and makes sample data installable in French and German alongside English. Sample users are created automatically but arrive disabled with expired passwords. The two other entries are internal designer build tags carrying single bug-fix references.

◆ Current state

◆ Where it's heading

Thread is closing the gap between where a conversation happens and where it is recorded. Voice was the biggest hole and is now the most actively developed surface — call controls, transcript pausing for sensitive information, PSA attachment delivery, and a Voice AI analytics dashboard have all landed in quick succession. The Teams and Slack work follows the same logic from the other direction: anything a contact does in chat, including a thumbs-up, has to reach the ticket. Where AI shows up it is operational rather than conversational — call summaries, a Triage Agent, a Reminder Agent that knows when the office is closed.

◆ Prediction

Expect the voice surface to keep deepening toward parity between inbound and outbound handling, and expect more of the notification-control pattern from flows to spread across the other Teams and Slack touchpoints.

iTop's 3.3 beta stretches the CMDB to containers and finally ships non-English sample data

◆ Current state

The only substantive entry is the 3.3.0 beta, which adds an optional Container Management module introducing a Cloud class plus container image, application and cluster classes, and makes sample data installable in French and German alongside English. Sample users are created automatically but arrive disabled with expired passwords. The two other entries are internal designer build tags carrying single bug-fix references.

◆ Where it's heading

The container work is iTop extending its configuration model to infrastructure its users have been running for years without a place to record it. Pairing that with localised sample data and pre-built test users points at reducing time-to-first-value during evaluation — the module and the onboarding polish are aimed at different audiences in the same release.

◆ Prediction

Expect further 3.3 betas before a general release, with the Container Management module likely staying optional while its class model settles.
