SkyWalking is rebuilding its own foundations — its own database, its own runtime, and now GenAI traces
Apache SkyWalking ships roughly one major a year. 10.4.0 added GenAI observability, replaced the Groovy-dependent runtime with a new OAL V2 engine, and became compatible with Grafana Tempo. Before it, 10.3.0 landed a new trace model in BanyanDB, and 10.2.0 removed the H2 storage option permanently while deepening BanyanDB support.
What is Fulcrum?
Fulcrum is retiring Google Maps for Esri and stabilising the ArcGIS stack behind it.
The legacy Google Maps engine is being retired on 1 September 2026, with any organisation still defaulting to it switched over automatically. The mobile releases since are consolidation on the replacement: ArcGIS SDK 300.0.0, restored styling on offline ArcGIS feature layers, better basemap loading, and fixes to location-button behaviour on both platforms. iOS 2607.3.0 also swapped ONNX for a different on-device inference format.
