What is Picsart?

Picsart's feed is a daily trend mill with occasional real product news buried in it.

The bulk of the window is content marketing on a near-daily cadence: numbered Daily Trend Drop posts explaining social video effects, model comparisons pitting Flux 3 against Google Omni and Seedance 2.5, and explainer posts on AI micro dramas and where to find content ideas. Two entries carry product substance — a four-step Picsart MCP workflow for competitor ad analysis inside a Claude chat, and Nano Banana workflow templates that turn one upload into a finished image set.

What is thematic?

thematic exists to follow ggplot2 and the IDEs, and that is all it does now.

Every release since the 0.1.1 debut is compatibility work. 0.1.7 accommodates ggplot2 v4.0.0; 0.1.5 absorbs breaking changes in ggplot2 v3.5.0 and restores vdiffr compatibility; 0.1.6 adds basic Positron IDE support and tracks a systemfonts deprecation; 0.1.4 adds the httpgd graphics device, which is what makes the package work in GitHub Codespaces. Earlier fixes cover gganimate, ggiraph, geom_sf overrides and Shiny-runtime Rmd documents.

Picsart's feed is a daily trend mill with occasional real product news buried in it.

◆ Current state

The bulk of the window is content marketing on a near-daily cadence: numbered Daily Trend Drop posts explaining social video effects, model comparisons pitting Flux 3 against Google Omni and Seedance 2.5, and explainer posts on AI micro dramas and where to find content ideas. Two entries carry product substance — a four-step Picsart MCP workflow for competitor ad analysis inside a Claude chat, and Nano Banana workflow templates that turn one upload into a finished image set.

◆ Where it's heading

Picsart is positioning itself as a surface AI models are reached through, not just an editor: the MCP workflow puts it inside an assistant conversation, and the recurring model comparisons cast it as the neutral place to use whichever generator wins. The trend posts serve a different purpose — keeping the brand adjacent to whatever is on the feed this week. Both are distribution plays, and neither is a changelog.

◆ Prediction

Expect the trend drops to continue at roughly one a day and more MCP or workflow-template posts as those surfaces get built out; genuine product releases will keep arriving disguised as how-to guides.

thematic exists to follow ggplot2 and the IDEs, and that is all it does now.

◆ Current state

◆ Where it's heading

thematic's premise — automatic theming across R's plotting stack — means its maintenance burden is entirely other people's release schedules. The work splits cleanly into keeping up with ggplot2's breaking changes and reaching new rendering surfaces as they appear: httpgd for browser-based sessions, Positron as RStudio's successor. Roughly one release a year, each one reactive.

◆ Prediction

The next release will most likely track another ggplot2 change or add a new IDE or graphics device; that is the only pattern seven releases show.
