What is NocoBase?

NocoBase is making AI a block you drop into an app, while quietly opening a v3 line.

NocoBase ships continuously on pre-release tags, with two trains running at once: a v2.2.0 alpha/beta line carrying all the feature work, and a v3.0.0 alpha line that so far contains nothing but version-publish commits. The feature releases cluster in two areas — the AI employees plugin and a Client V2 rewrite that is relocating settings, portals and access control onto new surfaces.

What is Kanri?

An offline-first kanban app whose solo maintainer has been quiet for ten months.

Kanri is a desktop-only, offline-first kanban board built on Tauri and maintained largely by one developer with community translation help. The last three releases pushed it past the basics into territory where it can replace a hosted board for a single user: tags, due dates, property-filtered search, and multilanguage support. Nothing has shipped since September 2025.

NocoBase vs Kanri: editorial side-by-side

N6.3

NocoBase is making AI a block you drop into an app, while quietly opening a v3 line.

◆ Current state

NocoBase ships continuously on pre-release tags, with two trains running at once: a v2.2.0 alpha/beta line carrying all the feature work, and a v3.0.0 alpha line that so far contains nothing but version-publish commits. The feature releases cluster in two areas — the AI employees plugin and a Client V2 rewrite that is relocating settings, portals and access control onto new surfaces.

◆ Where it's heading

The AI work is becoming structural rather than a side panel. An embeddable chat block, AI employee tasks, and RunJS APIs that let a JS block trigger AI work mean AI is turning into a primitive that app builders compose with, not a feature they visit. Meanwhile Client V2 is being pulled out into standalone routes, and three v3.0.0 tags appearing in the same week suggests that rewrite is heading for a major-version cut.

◆ Prediction

The v3.0.0 line will most likely absorb the Client V2 work currently landing in v2.2.0 tags, since both accelerated in the same week. Until a v3 tag ships release notes, its contents are guesswork.

K0.0

An offline-first kanban app whose solo maintainer has been quiet for ten months.

◆ Current state

Kanri is a desktop-only, offline-first kanban board built on Tauri and maintained largely by one developer with community translation help. The last three releases pushed it past the basics into territory where it can replace a hosted board for a single user: tags, due dates, property-filtered search, and multilanguage support. Nothing has shipped since September 2025.

◆ Where it's heading

The arc from v0.5 to v0.8 is a march toward parity with Trello for the local-first case — import paths from Trello and GitHub Projects first, then the tags and due dates those imports carry, then search that filters on them. Release intervals stretched from weeks to months to nearly a year, and the maintainer said v0.8.2 was held back by dependency migrations and Linux compatibility work.

◆ Prediction

The visible pattern is a long silence followed by one bundled release, so a v0.8.3 or v0.9 collecting deferred fixes and new translations is the likeliest next move. Ten months without a tag gives no basis for a date.
