SOGo's 5.12.13 fixes its largest batch of vulnerabilities yet, some critical.
A side-by-side editorial comparison of NetNewsWire and Readarr — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
NetNewsWire 7.3 beta starts showing media: enclosures, Media RSS and timeline thumbnails.
NetNewsWire shipped 7.2 on Mac and iOS in mid-October with a column timeline layout and unread-count controls, followed by a 7.2.1 Mac patch. The 7.3 Mac betas first restored the status bar, and 7.3b3 now renders enclosures and Media RSS in the article view, plays YouTube enclosures in the no-cookie player and adds optional timeline thumbnails.
Six releases of small fixes and translations, then nothing since June 2025.
Readarr's last six entries run from March to June 2025 and are uniformly small: a truncated root-folder path, remote image links for posters and covers, NLog message templating, disabled SelectInput options, Weblate translation batches. Every entry opens with the same instructions about switching to the develop branch and not updating inside a running Docker container. Nothing in this window adds capability, and no entry has appeared in over a year.

The 7.3 cycle is widening what a feed item can show, from text-only articles to images, audio and video carried as enclosures, which matters for Mastodon and podcast feeds. The project still ships through frequent public betas and keeps a server-friendly stance, now rate-limiting image downloads per host.
Further 7.3 Mac betas are likely before a final release; the entries do not show whether enclosure and thumbnail support will reach iOS in the same cycle.

The pattern is a project in caretaker mode: auto-generated commit lists, incremental UI corrections, and internal work like using ReflectionOnly types to avoid loading assemblies unnecessarily. Volume held steady at roughly one release every one to two weeks until it stopped entirely. The entries themselves give no reason for the halt.
The changelog offers no signal of resumed development; without new entries there is nothing here to project forward beyond the fact that the feed went quiet after 0.4.18.
