◆Current state
The two most recent cycles are both about surviving third-party sync services. 7.1.3 overhauls Feedly syncing to stop request floods that were getting users temporarily banned: syncing pauses when Feedly reports rate limiting, fetches only what changed since the last sync, caps article downloads per refresh, and directly refreshes a few feeds each pass to backfill articles missing from Feedly's aggregate stream. It also drains a mark-as-read backlog that could grow forever and re-send the same statuses, and uses Feedly's own published dates so a newly added feed's archive is no longer stamped today. Before that, 7.1.1 handled Reddit's new one-feed-per-minute limit by refreshing only the least-recently-checked Reddit feed per session. 7.1.2 is a different register — HTML parsing correctness, and blocking article web content from navigating away via JavaScript.
◆Where it's heading
The app's engineering budget is increasingly spent on the seam between a local reader and the services it federates with. Both Reddit and Feedly changed the terms in this window, and in both cases the fix was the same shape: refresh less, refresh incrementally, and back off when told to. That is a quiet but real shift for a client whose historical job was fetching feeds as often as it liked. Mac and iOS ship in lockstep, with the same notes appearing on both and betas cut for each.
◆Prediction
Feedly's 31-day marker limit is now handled by dropping statuses it can no longer accept, which resolves the backlog but silently discards state — a plausible next step is surfacing that, though nothing here says so. Expect the paired Mac and iOS cadence to continue.
