What is Loop Returns?

Loop is growing past the returns portal into checkout-side coverage and cross-border exchanges

Loop handles returns and exchanges for Shopify merchants, and this first archive shows the work split three ways. Checkout+, its paid coverage and package-protection product, is getting the configuration depth a merchandising team needs: exclusions by tag, line item property or discount code, cart and modal branding, and visibility of which orders actually paid. Shopify-native primitives — bundles, store credit — are being wired in so returns stop failing on them. And the return experience itself is being extended to cases it previously refused. The feed carries no publication dates.

What is Virto Commerce?

Virto Commerce ships weekly one-line platform releases, mostly settings and data plumbing

Virto Commerce publishes GitHub releases with version-only titles and bodies of a single line naming one pull request under a Development heading. The recent run has been the settings v2 API — dictionary settings and tenant scope — binary sidecar export and import contracts, and entity deletion for data-source-loaded records, alongside backported null-credential fixes cut simultaneously onto two older maintenance lines.

Loop Returns vs Virto Commerce: editorial side-by-side

L0.0

Loop is growing past the returns portal into checkout-side coverage and cross-border exchanges

◆ Current state

Loop handles returns and exchanges for Shopify merchants, and this first archive shows the work split three ways. Checkout+, its paid coverage and package-protection product, is getting the configuration depth a merchandising team needs: exclusions by tag, line item property or discount code, cart and modal branding, and visibility of which orders actually paid. Shopify-native primitives — bundles, store credit — are being wired in so returns stop failing on them. And the return experience itself is being extended to cases it previously refused. The feed carries no publication dates.

◆ Where it's heading

Two directions are legible. First, Loop is closing the gap between what Shopify can express and what a return can handle, so bundles, native store credit and its expiry rules behave correctly rather than erroring partway through. Second, Checkout+ is being built out as a configurable revenue product rather than a toggle, which is where the exclusion and branding work is going. Cross-border is the newest front: Global-e orders now get exchanges instead of refund-or-credit only.

◆ Prediction

The stated Global-e limitation — exchanges must be even swaps — is the obvious next thing to lift, since price-difference exchanges are already supported domestically. Expect Checkout+ configuration to keep accruing exclusion dimensions as merchants find catalogue cases the current three do not cover.

V5.0

Virto Commerce ships weekly one-line platform releases, mostly settings and data plumbing

◆ Current state

Virto Commerce publishes GitHub releases with version-only titles and bodies of a single line naming one pull request under a Development heading. The recent run has been the settings v2 API — dictionary settings and tenant scope — binary sidecar export and import contracts, and entity deletion for data-source-loaded records, alongside backported null-credential fixes cut simultaneously onto two older maintenance lines.

◆ Where it's heading

The work sits below the storefront, in the platform's configuration and data-exchange layer. Settings v2 gaining tenant scope points at multi-tenant deployments as the shape being supported; the sidecar export and import contracts point at moving binary artefacts through the same data pipelines as records. With one PR per release there is no way to read a bigger programme from any single entry, only from the sequence, and the same fix appearing under two version numbers on the same minute is how this project handles backports.

◆ Prediction

Settings v2 has now taken dictionary values and tenant scope in consecutive releases, so expect the remainder of the v1 settings surface to be migrated behind it rather than a new subsystem opening.
