Jitsi Meet Desktop vs vMix: at a glance
What is Jitsi Meet Desktop?
Jitsi Meet Desktop ships a trust-store fix you can only get by updating the app
Jitsi Meet Desktop releases every month or two, mostly upkeep. 2026.10.0 moves to Electron 43.8.3, which removes trust for the certificate hierarchy behind the October eMudhra intermediate CA compromise; because the app carries its own root store, updating is the only way to get it. It also adds a default-server CLI option and keeps JWTs when opening a meeting window.
What is vMix?
vMix's blog has gone a year without a new version, filling the gap with laptops and trade shows.
vMix's last product release in the feed is vMix 29 in October 2025, following vMix 28 that January. Since then the blog has carried an NVIDIA driver note raising NVENC encode limits to 12, the annual laptop guide and a NAB New York attendance post. None of the recent entries changes the software.

◆ Current state
Jitsi Meet Desktop releases every month or two, mostly upkeep.
◆ Where it's heading
Since the 2026.6.0 redesign into per-call windows, the app has returned to maintenance: Electron bumps, packaging and small fixes. Its security posture depends on how fast it follows Chromium through Electron.
◆ Prediction
The next release is likely another Electron bump with small fixes, in roughly a month.
vMix
5.0MEETINGS
vMix's blog has gone a year without a new version, filling the gap with laptops and trade shows.
◆ Current state
vMix's last product release in the feed is vMix 29 in October 2025, following vMix 28 that January. Since then the blog has carried an NVIDIA driver note raising NVENC encode limits to 12, the annual laptop guide and a NAB New York attendance post. None of the recent entries changes the software.
◆ Where it's heading
The 2025 pace of two major versions has not repeated in 2026 so far. The release posts never list features, so the feed signals timing and licence eligibility (free for buyers since January 2023, included in vMix Max) rather than capability.
◆ Prediction
A vMix 30 announcement is the next meaningful entry, but the feed gives no date for it.
