Jellyfin is deep in a 12.0 release-candidate train — five RCs since late June — that exists almost entirely to stabilize the backend rewrite shipped in 10.11.0. The project also renumbered along the way: 10.11.x becomes 12.x, dropping a leading "10." that had made every release read as minor. The outgoing 10.11.x stable line is still getting fixes, but 10.11.11 is down to a single locking change.

Teable ships multiple times a day, and nearly every build in this window touches one of two systems: BYODB health handling and the computed field engine. BYODB now reports read-only, unreachable, degraded, and recovered states with in-app notifications and remediation guidance, returns a 409 on writes to a read-only database, and pauses computed tasks until recovery. The computed field work is a long list of reliability fixes — self-linked tables, deleted source fields, resumable lookup backfills on large tables, and an end to retry storms on unrecoverable failures. Admin observability tracks alongside it, with a task-level queue browser and consolidated anomaly reporting.

The RC rounds are getting narrower as the train converges. RC1 was a cumulative dump covering the move to .NET 10, removal of legacy API route middleware and deprecated API members, and an HLS transcode seeking refactor; RC5 is batched database lookups and a fix for image endpoints upscaling past the source resolution. The 10.11.x branch is now being maintained mainly as an upgrade floor — 12.0 refuses to install on anything older than 10.10.7 and runs a multi-minute migration on first boot.
With RC5 down to query batching and individual endpoint fixes, a 12.0 final looks near — likely one or two more RCs at most. The plugin story is the loose end: the RCs still tell testers to disable external plugins and reinstall from the unstable repository, and that has to resolve before a general release.

This is what a product looks like when it lets customers point it at their own database and then has to live with the consequences. The direction is not new features but making the failure modes of someone else's Postgres legible and recoverable — classify the health state, stop retrying what cannot succeed, resume what was interrupted, and give admins a queue view that survives an incident like a full disk. The permissions and collaborator work in the newest build is the first sign of attention moving back toward the collaboration surface.
Expect the admin recovery tooling to keep expanding toward bulk operator actions, since consolidating anomalies for bulk recovery was already called out as the goal. Computed field work should taper as the reliability backlog clears, with space and permission features taking more of each release.
