Spree 6.0 turns an open-source storefront into a marketplace and B2B platform
A side-by-side editorial comparison of GrandNode and OpenBoxes — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
GrandNode returns after 18 months with a multi-store manager and a .NET 10 rebuild.
GrandNode 2.4.0 beta (2026-09-13) is the first release since 2.3.0 in early 2025. It moves to .NET 10, rebuilds the storefront on Vue 3, Bootstrap 5 and Vite, and replaces AutoMapper and MediatR with in-house libraries. The main addition is Grand.Web.Store, a separate app where a store manager runs products, content, payments, taxes and customers for one store without access to the full admin panel.
OpenBoxes 0.9.9 turns to purchase-order shipments and pick imports after a summer of data rules.
OpenBoxes is an open-source inventory and supply chain system used by health-facility operators, released roughly quarterly with hotfix branches between. Version 0.9.9 on 27 October improved readability and filtering for purchase-order shipments and pick imports. Earlier in the year 0.9.8 made product import reject unknown categories and patched three GHSA advisories, and 0.9.7 added TransactionSource records for inventory provenance.

GrandNode keeps its pattern of one large beta per .NET major version, and keeps splitting the platform into separate applications: modules in 2.3, the vendor portal in 2.2, and now per-store management for multi-tenant setups. Dropping third-party libraries for its own reduces dependency risk but adds code to maintain.
A 2.4 final release is the likely next entry; based on past cycles, expect the next large beta only with the next .NET major version.

The 0.9.x line is working through warehouse workflows one at a time: cycle counts and record stock in spring, import validation in summer, outbound shipments and picking now. Each release tightens how data enters the system rather than adding new modules.
A 0.9.9 hotfix within weeks is likely, given that every recent minor has been followed by one or more.
