KNN work continues on the operational side rather than the algorithmic one — making optimize cutoff behave consistently whether it is set globally or per index. The Buddy component is on its own release train, pulled in via version bumps that each carry a capability, most recently Unix socket support. A UTF-8 table and field name feature was merged by mistake and reverted, so that capability is still pending rather than shipped.
