What is Fulcrum?

Fulcrum opens its form model to AI agents via MCP — field ops gets an agentic layer

Fulcrum is a mobile-first field data collection platform used by operations teams to capture GPS-tagged records on iOS and Android. Its release cadence has been split between steady mobile polish — reliability fixes across map rendering, location tracking, and offline workflows — and a deliberate push into AI-assisted data entry with Photo FastFill. The MCP and AI Toolkit Labs release signals a third vector: Fulcrum is now opening its form model to external AI orchestration, letting tools like Claude and GitHub Copilot build forms and query live field data programmatically.

What is Pinpoint?

ServerMap rebuilt and application names finally long enough to describe a service.

Pinpoint ships a minor roughly once a year with patch releases in between. The 3.1.0 release rebuilt ServerMap as V3 with a redesigned storage layout, a new query path and a new set of map tables, and raised the applicationName ceiling from 24 to 254 characters — gated behind an agent property that requires collector 3.1.0 or higher. The patch line before it is mostly backports and plugin compatibility: Java 26, Kafka Streams, Kafka 4.x, S3, nested Spring Boot JARs.

Fulcrum opens its form model to AI agents via MCP — field ops gets an agentic layer

◆ Current state

Fulcrum is a mobile-first field data collection platform used by operations teams to capture GPS-tagged records on iOS and Android. Its release cadence has been split between steady mobile polish — reliability fixes across map rendering, location tracking, and offline workflows — and a deliberate push into AI-assisted data entry with Photo FastFill. The MCP and AI Toolkit Labs release signals a third vector: Fulcrum is now opening its form model to external AI orchestration, letting tools like Claude and GitHub Copilot build forms and query live field data programmatically.

◆ Where it's heading

Fulcrum is adding an agent execution layer on top of its existing form-and-record model. The MCP integration gives AI systems not just read access but the ability to act — creating forms, managing webhooks, generating reports — which shifts Fulcrum from a data capture tool toward a platform that agents can build on. The ongoing Photo FastFill iterations (now in Alpha with active per-release fixes) suggest a parallel track: structured AI extraction from field photos, complementing the MCP's programmatic interface.

◆ Prediction

The next likely move is a GA release of the MCP/AI Toolkit, expanding past Labs with production safety guarantees and broader tool coverage. Photo FastFill exiting Alpha is the other near-term candidate — it has appeared in every recent mobile release, indicating the team is iterating fast toward stability.

ServerMap rebuilt and application names finally long enough to describe a service.

◆ Current state

Pinpoint ships a minor roughly once a year with patch releases in between. The 3.1.0 release rebuilt ServerMap as V3 with a redesigned storage layout, a new query path and a new set of map tables, and raised the applicationName ceiling from 24 to 254 characters — gated behind an agent property that requires collector 3.1.0 or higher. The patch line before it is mostly backports and plugin compatibility: Java 26, Kafka Streams, Kafka 4.x, S3, nested Spring Boot JARs.

◆ Where it's heading

The plugin surface expands continuously — each release absorbs another client library or runtime version — while the platform work arrives in rare, larger jumps that touch storage schema and require coordinated agent and collector upgrades. The 3.1.0 changes suggest the constraints being addressed are those of large deployments: structured naming schemes that no longer fit, and a topology view whose query path needed redesigning rather than tuning.

◆ Prediction

Expect the 3.1 line to spend its patches stabilising the ServerMap V3 storage path and backporting plugin updates, with the next set of runtime and client integrations arriving the same way they always have.
