A side-by-side editorial comparison of Elasticsearch and Skaffold — release velocity, themes, recent moves, and the top alternatives to consider.
One Node.js Brotli bug and a compromised CA bundle force ten patches across the Elastic Stack.
Elastic shipped 8.19.24, 9.4.9 and 9.5.6 on November 3 with a batch of advisories from ESA-2026-229 to ESA-2026-238. Most trace to two inherited components: a Brotli decoder flaw in the bundled Node.js runtime (CVE-2026-111497) that reaches Kibana, Maps Server, Heartbeat and Elastic Agent Synthetics, and a root store that still trusts eight eMudhra intermediates with leaked keys. Two Elastic-owned denial-of-service bugs, in APM Server's OTLP/HTTP intake and two phonetic encoders, round out the release.
Skaffold 2.25 finally carries notes, and they are dependency bumps and a Go 1.27 upgrade.
Skaffold cut 2.19 through 2.25 between April and mid-September on a roughly monthly rhythm, after a short 2.18 patch series in March and April. Most entries are just install commands per platform. Version 2.25.0 on September 16 is the first in this window with a change list, and it is all maintenance: Go 1.27.1, containerd, gRPC, buildkit and go-git bumps, plus a docs announcement on the V2 and YAML reference pages.

Back-to-back advisory batches, Cloud Enterprise isolation fixes on October 29 and stack-wide dependency fixes on November 3, show Elastic's exposure moving to what it bundles: Node.js runtimes and certificate stores inside every Docker image. Elastic is fixing these with hard limits, like the 64 MiB OTLP body cap, rather than workarounds, and several advisories say no workaround exists.
Expect further advisories as Node.js and base-image fixes keep flowing into the Synthetics and Kibana images; the entries do not show whether Elastic will stop bundling its own Node.js root store.

The monthly minors look like dependency hygiene rather than feature work, and the empty New Features and Fixes sections in 2.25 confirm it for that release. No entry has appeared since mid-September, which breaks the monthly rhythm the project held through the summer.
If cadence resumes, expect a 2.26 with another round of Go and dependency updates; the feed gives no sign of feature work.
